Flames Sweeps Simpson On First Day

REDDING, Calif. - Bethesda University twice rallied Wednesday to post one-run wins over Simpson in doubleheader baseball action at Tiger Field. The Flames came back to win game one, 7-6, and rallied for a 3-2 win in the nightcap.

Game One - Bethesda 7, Simpson 6
Simpson stormed to a 5-1 lead with single runs in the third and fourth and then a three-run fifth. The Flames, however, answered with a pair of runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh to lead 7-5. SU rallied for a run in the ninth, but stranded the tying run on base.

Logan Maxwell picked up the win for the Flames.  The Flames remained hot at the plate and had a dozen hits.  The Flames did not commit an error in the game.

Game Two - Bethesda 3, Simpson 2

Simpson built a 2-0 lead, but could not close out the victory.  Simpson brought in a reliver and he inherited a pair of runners and a 2-1 in the sixth, but could not keep the Flames from plating the runners already aboard.

Simpson got the tying run on base in the final inning, but Daniel Arellano earned the save for Bethesda with three straight strikeouts to end the game.

Frankie Wright picked up the win for the Flames.  He went six innings and gave up two earned run.  Wright struck out a game high eight batters.

The Flames will conclude the series with one game tomorrow at noon.
