Lion Angels Ready to Rise: 2025-26 Men’s Basketball Season Preview
The Bethesda University Lion Angels Men’s Basketball Team enters the 2025-26 season with a renewed sense of focus, faith, and fire. Under the leadership of Head Coach Julio Lopez, along with Assistant Coach Luis Herrera, the Lion Angels are preparing for a defining year built on discipline, unity, and competitive excellence.
A New Era of Lion Angel Basketball
The Lion Angels boast a balanced roster that blends returning experience with exciting new talent.
Leading the group are Camron Durr, a composed floor general and natural leader; Miles Sulka, a steady presence and sharp shooter; Edward Spencer, an athletic and physical forward; and Taeo Thomas, an explosive guard whose energy and intensity drive the team’s identity.
“We’re building a culture based on accountability, hard work, and faith,” said Head Coach Julio Lopez. “This group understands that every day is a new opportunity to grow as athletes and as men.”
Together, this core represents the new heartbeat of Bethesda basketball—a program where effort, faith, and purpose define success.
Faith, Habits, and Brotherhood
Assistant Coach Luis Herrera, a USA Basketball Clinician with international experience, brings a cutting-edge developmental philosophy to the Lion Angels. His approach centers on the .5 offensive philosophy, encouraging players to make quick, smart, and unselfish decisions that keep the team flowing.“We coach through habits and values,” Herrera said. “Our players learn to play fast, think fast, and live with discipline—on and off the floor.”
Through innovative training methods like the constraints-led approach, the staff is developing players who can adapt to any game situation while staying grounded in character and teamwork.
Players to Watch
Camron Durr (SR) – A composed leader at point guard who controls tempo and creates opportunities for his teammates.
Miles Sulka (SR) – Veteran guard with elite shooting ability and a consistent work ethic that sets the tone for younger players.
Edward Spencer (SR) – A powerful and athletic forward known for his defense, rebounding, and physical presence in the paint.
