Flames run out of gas in the second OT and lose the game 3-4 to Stanislaus State University

ANAHEIM, Calif. – On Monday, October 18, our Men's Soccer team competed against the NCAA D2 Stanislaus State University, and lost the game 3-4 in the middle of the second OT, after a successful penalty kick by SSU midfielder, Matthew Waldron.

Bethesda Flames played beautiful soccer and were very organized throughout the game by moving the ball quickly, being good at passing the ball to each other, and communicating on the field. In the 14th minute SSU Warriors scored the first goal of the game, and ten minutes before the end of the first half Youngso Shin evened out the score to 1-1. In the 66th minute of the game the best BU scorer of this season, Junmo Ryu, took a professional decision by centering the pass for an easy goal to his teammate Andre Morris for a 2-1 lead. Throughout the second half of the game Warriors managed to score two more goals to change the score to 2-3, but two minutes before the end of the game Diogo Pereira evened the score to 3-3 by acing the penalty kick and leading Flames into the OT. By the second OT Flames 'ran out of gas'  after playing over 100mins with no subs, and lost the game in the 103th minute by a controversial penalty kick from Warriors junior, Matthew Waldron.

Today, Oct. 19, Flames will play against UC Merced - Women @1:00pm, and Men @3:00pm. To watch the games online and cheer for our Flames, click the link - https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ucm/
