Bethesda Wins Double Header Over La Sierra University

Riverside, Ca. - The #5 Bethesda University baseball team grabbed wins 15 & 16 today as they won a double header over La Sierra University in Riverside, California.

The First game had a final score of 13-2 and Bethesda won the second one 9-2.  Bethesda kept La Sierra's bats silent down the stretch of the first game while putting up a total of 12 runs between the fourth and ninth innings.  La Sierra got their only two runs of the game during the first and third inning.

The Bethesda Flames had 14 hits on the day and scored a game high 13 runs while commiting only one error compared to La Sierra's four.

Bethesda would dominate the ninth frame by scoring 6 runs to end the game.

"When we can play baseball without erros and put the ball into play, we can be a very good team," said Head Coach Michael Gonzalez. " Our young men came to play today and we are very thankful for the outcome."

Daniel Arellano led the scoring with four runs while Dino Mares added three. Six additional Flames added to scoring effort throughout the day.

 Frankie Wright was the Ace for the Flames who only allowed six hits, struck out six, and pitched eight innings.  Thomas Shelly earned the save for the Flames.

Game 2

In the second game, Bethesda would leave their opponents with a zero on the scoreboard after four innings of play. The Flames would add three runs in the first, two in the second, and three in the fifth.

La Sierra would score their only two runs of the game in the fifth.  The Flames would score their last run of the game in the seventh.  The Final score was Bethesda 9, La Sierra 2.

Oscar Munoz picked up the win for the Flames.  He pitched five innings and struck out eight batters. 

Daniel Arellano led the Flames with three hits. Armando Lomeli and Daniel Dominguez had two hits and six other Flames had hits on the day.

The two teams will take Saturday off and return to action on Sunday for another double header in Riverside, Ca.  The first game will start at 11:00am and the second at 2:00pm.
